Fillmore Forward was created to encourage the start up of small businesses, and the expansion of existing business in the Fillmore corridor. Whether you only have an idea for a business or you are already in business we can help you with an instructional program and the careful planning needed to be successful!

Local businesses are the heartbeat of a community. At Fillmore Forward, we hope to revitalize the Martin Luther King and Broadway-Fillmore business districts. In part, that means offering assistance to existing businesses, but it also means offering assistance to locals who want to start a business.  Most new businesses fail because the business owner often do not have a plan or manual for their businesses. Sure, he or she knows how to make cupcakes, build furniture, or whatever it is that the business does, but he or she may not know about financing, business planning, advertising, sales and marketing, when and how to expand, and so forth.

We're here to help. We can't send everyone through an MBA program, but the reality is that in business, a little education can go a long way to ensuring that your business can succeed and support not only you and your family, but your entire community.

We have developed a seven-week business course designed to give the average person the kind of business skills it takes to survive. We'll talk about the types of businesses that are successful. We'll talk about strategic planning and business plans. We'll talk about financial literacy and boot strapping. We'll talk about financing your business. We'll talk about sales and marketing, and most importantly, we'll talk about the next steps you can take to turn your idea into a successful business.

Here's a little secret about understanding how businesses operate, business is about building relationships—relationships with suppliers, relationships with vendors, and of course, relationships with customers. When businesses are run by people who live in the community they serve  those relationships serve to strengthen the bonds that tie that community together.

We want to strengthen those bonds. We want to revitalize this community. If you share that goal, and if you have an idea for a business, we'd like to help you see it become a reality. Our program starts in April  and October and runs for  nine consecutive weeks. Dates and time will be published by the end of March. To register or inquire about future programs please call us at 716-436-4896, or e-mail info@fillmoreforward.org or check us out on our Facebook page link https://www.facebook.com/FillmoreForward/ .
